Bankui: Noise pollution is prohibited from 11 p.m. in the Bankui and Sourou regions. The governor of the Bankui and Sourou regions, Babo Pierre Bassinga, recalled, through an administrative communiqu© published this Tuesday, the prohibition of noise pollution throughout the regional territory, in accordance with the provisions of the Environmental Code of Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, owners, managers, and operators of drinking establishments are now required to stop playing music from 11 p.m. every day of the week, from Monday to Sunday. The regional authority specifies that any violation of this measure will result in the seizure of the equipment causing the noise pollution, without prejudice to the criminal penalties provided for by the regulations in force.

The governor also reminds everyone that noise pollution remains prohibited even during the day when it disturbs public peace and the neighborhood. However, special exemptions or authorizations may be granted on the occasion of national holidays, popular celebrations or certain one-off events such as fairs, festivals, festivals or weddings.

The enforcement of this measure is entrusted to the municipal police. In municipalities without such a police force, the national gendarmerie and the national police will assume this responsibility. The governor called on the population to demonstrate responsibility, civic-mindedness and patriotism in order to guarantee the right to rest and tranquility for all citizens.
