Nongodo FC Excluded from Women’s Ligue 1 for Identity Fraud Involving Five Players

Ouagadougou:Kaya The Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Burkinabe Football Federation has excluded Nongodo Football Club of Kaya from the Women's Ligue 1 for the 2026-2027 season. This decision, made under the chairmanship of Mahamad Sory, comes with a fine of two hundred and fifty thousand CFA francs for identity fraud involving five players.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ruling was rendered on October 24, 2026, in Ouagadougou, following an appeal filed by the clubs AS Triomphe and AS Bado on July 5, 2026. The appeal accused Nongodo FC of using fake birth certificates to obtain Burkinabe licenses for five foreign national players.

The players in question had participated in matches against AS Triomphe and AS Bado during the national women's Ligue 2 championship, group A, for the 2025-2026 season. The Commission's investigation revealed that the players' licenses were obtained using false documents, as cross-checks of civil status and pre-contracts signed under their Nigerian identities confirmed the fraud.

During the hearing, Nongodo FC representatives did not contest the allegations. The Commission concluded that the club committed document forgery by knowingly submitting false civil status documents to secure player licenses, aiming to bypass mandatory registration and international transfer procedures for foreign players.

The Commission deemed the situation to be of "exceptional gravity" due to the deliberate nature of the actions, the number of players involved, and the undue sporting advantage obtained by Nongodo FC during the 2025-2026 season. Nevertheless, the club's acknowledgment of the facts, the non-participation of the suspended players in playoff matches, and previously imposed sanctions were considered in the decision.

The ruling allows for an appeal to the FBF Appeals Commission within eight days of notification.
