ONBAH Secures Damaged Dike of Kaya-Navio Dam in Tiebele


Nahouri: The National Office of Dams and Hydro-Agricultural Development (ONBAH) has taken measures to secure the damaged dike of the Kaya-Navio dam, located in the commune of Tiebele, after heavy rains struck the area on August 8 and 9, 2025, pending a comprehensive rehabilitation effort.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the village of Kaya, situated west of the commune of Tiebele, relies on this dam to support off-season crop cultivation and gardening activities. In response to the damage, the High Commissioner of the province of Nahouri, Sie Aristide Mohamed Kam, issued a press release urging villagers and those in nearby areas to remain cautious and vigilant.

Rehabilitation efforts have been initiated by ONBAH, and on Tuesday, August 26, the organization’s director general, Commander Yaya Traore, visited the site to assess the reconstruction progress. Commander Traore emphasized that current efforts focus on securing the dike while awaiting the dam’s complete rehabilitation. He assured that all n
ecessary equipment is on-site to ensure the dike’s security.

Commander Traore also praised the workers for their dedication and called on the local population to adhere to the technical services’ instructions to prevent any potential issues.
