Ouagadougou: Security Minister Mahamadou Sanaa has commended the forces involved in Operation 'Ladeli' for their efforts in saving lives and disrupting terrorist supply networks at the Sankariare market. The minister highlighted the operation's success in preventing potential explosions and fires in the bustling marketplace.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Operation 'Ladeli,' which translates to 'Counseling, Rehabilitation, and Awareness' in the Dioula language, was executed by 1,120 personnel from the capital's defense and security forces. The operation involved meticulous searches of bags, stores, and closed premises throughout the market, resulting in several arrests. The authorities seized a significant amount of narcotics, unfit consumable products, toxic substances like cyanides, explosives, and other hazardous materials.

Minister Sanaa reminded the public of previous incidents, such as the 2019 explosion in Larle and the 2023 fire at Sankariare market, to emphasize the importance of stringent preventive measures to avert further tragedies. He announced plans to extend Operation 'Ladeli' to all markets and commercial areas across the country, aiming to establish discipline, protect public health, and enhance security in major commercial centers.

The operation is also seen as a strong response to a recent assault on Labal Brigade members in Sankariare. Minister Sanaa stressed that the state would not tolerate businesses supplying hostile groups while others risk their lives to safeguard the nation.
