Organic Farming Boost: Over 5 Million FCFA Worth of Equipment Donated to Producers in Ganzourgou to Strengthen Climate Resilience

Ganzourgou: The Beoog-Neere Association of Ganzourgou (ABNG), with the support of the NGO €š¬…¡¬¦½les de Paix, delivered a significant consignment of agricultural equipment valued at over 5 million FCFA to six villages participating in the Paas Paongo project. This initiative aims to promote agroecology and enhance the resilience of farmers against climate change.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the equipment, which includes wheelbarrows, pickaxes, shovels, gloves, sprayers, drums, watering cans, and jerrycans, will benefit the villages of Songdin, Imiga, Kolgsom, Soubdougou, Goudrin, and Zanga in the commune of Zorgho. Alassane Soudr©, the president of ABNG, emphasized that this equipment will enable farmers to apply organic farming techniques acquired during training sessions organized as part of the project.

"We are training our female and male farmers so that they no longer use chemical fertilizers and pesticides that destroy our soils," stated Mr. Soudr©. He noted that the six villages have already received training in agroecological practices known in Moor© as "Kogl zang koobo," and demonstration farms will be established in Songdin and Kolgsom to serve as educational sites for other producers.

Harouna Karambiri, representing the High Commissioner of Ganzourgou Province, applauded the initiative, noting that it would foster good agricultural practices in the beneficiary villages. "This equipment will allow the beneficiary cooperative societies to implement sound agricultural policies and serve as examples for other farmers," he stated.

Karim Cyrille Dahani, a representative of the NGO €š¬…¡¬¦½les de Paix, explained that the Paas Paongo project is a 3-year program (2026-2028) aimed at promoting agroecology as part of climate change resilience efforts. He highlighted the choice of ABNG as a partner due to its proven success in market gardening and bio-input production in the province.

The project is structured around four main axes: supporting communities in the agroecological transition, promoting entrepreneurship through village savings and credit associations, strengthening communication and media capacity, and improving social cohesion. Sey Omar Ou©draogo, the provincial director in charge of agriculture in Ganzourgou, affirmed that the project aligns with the national vision of soil protection and achieving food self-sufficiency.

El Hadj Ablass© Ou©draogo, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to ABNG and its partner for their support, pledging that the equipment would be used to improve living conditions and combat poverty.
