OSCEP 2025-2026 Launches with Tiankoura ‘A’ Victory in Opening Match

Bougouriba: The Tiankoura Basic Education District (CEB) officially kicked off the 2025-2026 sports and cultural season of the Primary School Sports and Culture Organization (OSCEP) with an exciting football match between Tiankoura 'A' Centre School and Bombara School.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the opening ceremony was attended by prominent figures including the prefect, president of the special delegation of Tiankoura, the head of the basic education district (CCEB), and the principal of the departmental high school, alongside educational supervisors and numerous guests. The inaugural match, played in a friendly atmosphere, resulted in a decisive 3-0 victory for Tiankoura 'A' Centre School over Bombara School after two fiercely contested 30-minute periods.

Koungbenibe Dah, the head of the Tiankoura basic education district, expressed his satisfaction and joy at the successful commencement of the tournament. He highlighted the positive atmosphere of the event and praised the dedication of educational stakeholders, including teachers, local authorities, and pedagogical advisors, whose support he deemed essential for the success of school activities.

Mr. Dah also pointed out the critical role of sports in a child's development and well-being, emphasizing culture as a vital complement to physical education. He underlined that sports and culture together provide a balanced education, fostering values such as discipline, solidarity, and respect. He called for continued fair play in the competition and expressed hope that the final would take place before April's end, allowing students to focus on their end-of-year exams.

Damou Bazi, president of the Tiankoura special delegation, also spoke at the event, expressing his delight in participating alongside education stakeholders in the OSCEP sports and cultural season's opening. He reaffirmed the municipal authority's commitment to supporting educational efforts, stressing the importance of sport as a contributor to psychological well-being and academic success. Mr. Bazi thanked God and congratulated all those involved in the development of education and sport in the municipality, pleased with the smooth and incident-free running of the ceremony.

For the 2025-2026 season, the CEB Tiankoura's OSCEP will focus on sports and culture. The sports component includes football and athletics, with 22 teams competing for the trophy, divided into groups from Tioyo and Tiankoura. The cultural aspect will see students competing in traditional dance, slam poetry, and theater.

The CEB of Tiankoura's OSCEP 2025-2026 season will continue over the coming weeks, with the aim of balancing sporting and cultural activities with academic demands.
