Ouahigouya: An agro-ecological project has been officially launched by the Yatenga Association for Sustainable Development of Women, Internally Displaced Persons, Refugees and Hosts (ADFY) for the benefit of women and educational structures, AIB has observed.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the launch ceremony of this ADFY agro-ecological project was presided over by Amos Lucien Lankoande, the Prefect, President of the Special Delegation of the Commune of Ouahigouya (PDS), on Friday, April 3. Mr. Lankoande expressed his satisfaction with the selection of his municipality for the project's implementation, emphasizing its significance for the citizens. He highlighted that in a context where soils are depleted, agroecology serves as a crucial alternative. The production of organic compost by ADFY and the accompanying support measures for stakeholders were pointed out as factors that reassure the potential success of the project.
Salmata Ganame, president of ADFY, stated that the project aims to address the production and consumption of organic products by households, aligning with the objectives set by the country's authorities. She elaborated that the first phase of the project will involve supplying 50 households and educational institutions with organic compost and various seeds to facilitate soilless cultivation on their lands. Ganame mentioned that the ambition is to encourage the consumption of products free from chemical components to enhance health.
