Ouahigouya Commemorates All Saints’ Day with Prayers for Security Forces


Ouahigouya: Bishop Justin Kientega and the Catholic faithful of the Ouahigouya military chaplaincy commemorated the Solemnity of All Saints on Saturday, November 1, 2025. On this occasion, the Bishop of the Diocese of Ouahigouya urged the people of God to unite in prayer for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Burkinabe army, AIB observed.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the event took place at the chapel of the basic Christian community (CCB) Saint-Michel of the 12th Commando Infantry Regiment (RIC), where both lay faithful and FDS gathered to give thanks to God during the feast of All Saints.



The Eucharistic celebration, led by Bishop Justin Kientega, served as a moment of communion and prayer for and with all the Saints, as well as for the FDS and the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) engaged in operations to liberate Burkina Faso, particularly in the northern part of the country.



At the conclusion of the celebration, the commanding officer of the 12th RIC in Ouahigouya expressed that prayer is part of the solution to the security crisis in the Yatenga region. He extended a double happy feast day to the Catholic faithful and to his fellow soldiers present for the occasion.



Bishop Justin Kientega encouraged the FDS and the VDP to maintain hope for a swift return of peace to Burkina Faso.



Following the mass, the military chaplaincy community of Ouahigouya gathered for a fraternal meal.
