Ouonhindouba Yemien Takes Helm as Tannounyan Regional Police Chief

Tannounyan: Ouonhindouba Yemien, the new head of the Tannounyan regional police, has been installed. The Tannounyan Regional Directorate of the National Police underwent a change of command on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. The official handover ceremony between the outgoing Regional Director and his successor took place in the courtyard of the regional directorate, presided over by the Director General of the National Police, Inspector General Thierry Dofizouho Tuina.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Police Divisional Commissioner Ouonhindouba Yemien has been officially installed in his new position as Regional Director of the National Police in Tannounyan. Appointed by the Council of Ministers on October 23, he previously held the position of Technical Inspector at the Ministry of Security, after having served as Provincial Director of the National Police in Boulgou from 2023 to March 2025.

The Director General of the National Police, Inspector General Thierry Dofizouho Tuina, commended the new regional head for his commitment and urged him to prioritize teamwork, a sense of duty, and loyalty. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with the local population and security stakeholders to ensure stability and peace in the region.

Speaking at the event, Ouonhindouba Yemien expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the highest authorities in the country, particularly the Minister of Security and the Director General of the National Police, for the trust placed in him. "Aware of the task ahead, I request the support of the administrative, traditional, and religious authorities, as well as the general population, to successfully complete my mission," he stated. He also pledged to strengthen coordination with other defense and security forces, as well as with the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), to guarantee the free movement and security of the population.

Addressing his staff, the new Regional Director called for commitment, integrity, and professionalism. "Be worthy, honest, and loyal police officers. Carry out your duties with dedication, discipline, and a concern for providing good service to the public," he urged.

He also congratulated his predecessor, appointed head of the Guiriko regional police headquarters, praising the efforts made to strengthen peace and security in the region. "Your determination has restored calm to the population. I pledge to consolidate the gains achieved under your leadership," he added.

The ceremony concluded in a spirit of continuity and mobilization for the security and well-being of the Tannounyan people.
