Bale: The Ouri Basic Education District has commenced its sports and cultural activities for the 2026 edition of the Organization of Sport, Culture and Leisure in Primary Schools (OSCLEP). The launch event took place at the Ouri Primary School A grounds, featuring a gala match between Ouri Primary School B and Primary School C, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the theme for this edition is "Sport and culture, foundation of a resilient education," and the ceremony was led by Sibiri Hermann Bamogo, the president of the special delegation of the commune of Ouri. The event was attended by administrative, customary, and religious authorities, education stakeholders, parents, and the local community.
Fran§ois K d'Assise Yameogo, Secretary General of OSCLEP of Ouri, outlined the chosen disciplines for this edition. These include men's and women's football, traditional wrestling, and cycling for sports, and traditional dance, traditional ballets, recitals or playback, and theatre for leisure and culture.
He emphasized the benefits of sports for students, noting that it is an activity with a physical and intellectual focus that fosters closer ties among students, strengthens their bodies, broadens their minds, and aids social integration. Sports also serve as a platform for showcasing talents.
The municipal authority praised the initiative for providing learners with a means of personal development while promoting discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence. Teachers were encouraged by the PDS, who referred to them as the "VDP of education" and emphasized that the future of Ouri's learners is in their hands.
Doubanou Marcel Kassa, head of the CEB, called for all actors involved in this sporting and cultural season to exercise restraint and understanding during the competitions. The launch ceremony concluded with a presentation of New Year's greetings from the CEB educational community at the Ouri Popular and Leisure Centre (CPL), accompanied by a community meal in an atmosphere of reunion.
