Ouagadougou:Candidate Ousmane Bamogo defended his Master's thesis in Economics and Management on September 22, 2026, at the Pan-African Research Center in Management for Development. His research focused on the impact of the SOS Children's Villages' project, "Joining Forces for Africa (JOFA) Act Against Child Labor (ACTE)," on reducing child labor.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Bamogo, an inspector of primary and non-formal education, earned distinction for his thesis, which analyzed the project's influence in Ouagadougou from 2023 to 2025. The study included responses from 60 children's club members, five resource persons, four district social service heads, and the project manager.
Bamogo's research revealed that the project significantly contributed to removing children from labor, reintegrating them, and ensuring their education through awareness-raising efforts. He noted the project's role in strengthening capacities of actors via children's clubs and enhancing educational staff's knowledge by establishing child protection units.
However, he pointed out challenges, including insufficient coordination among various actors involved in the project. Bamogo emphasized the importance of sustaining progress through resource availability, ongoing awareness activities, community mobilization, and existing protection mechanisms.
The thesis defense was chaired by Professor Sangar/Illa Honorine, with Dr. Bagayan Houdou as rapporteur and Dr. Ampinour Kambou serving as the thesis director.
