Parishioners at the University Commemorate the Sufferings of Christ on Good Friday

Ouagadougou: On this Good Friday, marking the commemoration of the crucifixion and death of Christ, the faithful of the parish of Saint Albert the Great Rotunda walked the 14 stations of the way of the cross in prayer, songs, and contemplation. In an atmosphere of spiritual intensity, the Catholic faithful of the Rotonde parish celebrated Good Friday, marking the culmination of the Lenten season with prayer, full of emotion and contemplation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, through the stations, they expressed a living faith, capable of transcending fatigue and heat to fully commune with the emotions of Christ and the mystery of his Passion. Along the way, the voices of the faithful rose in unison to recite prayers that punctuated the stations with fervor.

These prayers, interwoven with liturgical chants, punctuated the march, creating a spiritual communion despite the oppressive heat. The chants, sometimes meditative, sometimes filled with supplication, allowed the faithful to express the emotions stirred by the Passion of Christ. Some, visibly moved, expressed their compassion for the suffering endured by Jesus, while others closed their eyes, absorbed in silent prayer.

Under a blazing sun, hundreds of faithful took part in the Stations of the Cross, the central moment of the day. From one station to the next, retracing the final moments of Christ, the participants meditated on his suffering: the condemnation, the falls under the weight of the cross, the encounter with his mother, culminating in the crucifixion and burial. Each station was experienced intensely, like an immersion in the pain, but also in the love and forgiveness embodied by Jesus.

A devout Christian, Bado Modeste, affirms that his participation in Good Friday is of particular importance to him, given the national security situation. He prays that the resurrection of Christ will bring peace to Burkina Faso.
