Passor©: The Association of Visually Impaired and Blind People of Passor© (APMA) organized an annual forum for individuals living with visual impairments on May 2 and 3, 2025, in Yako, supported by the Ministry of Humanitarian Action. The forum featured various activities designed to bring joy and engagement to attendees over the two-day event.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the APMA is dedicated to the development and empowerment of visually impaired and blind individuals. The theme for this year's forum was "Let us promote social inclusion by promoting the empowerment of visually impaired people and ensure peace and social cohesion in our locality." The event featured a wide range of activities, including a cycling race, a public lecture, a football match, a peace caravan, and awards ceremonies for participants.
The public lecture emphasized three main concepts: inclusion, empowerment, and social cohesion. Danish Refugee Council representative Karidiatou Nikiema praised the forum's organizers for their efforts to foster self-esteem among people with visual impairments in Burkina Faso. Blaise Wibgha, President of the APMA, highlighted the forum's goal to promote peace and social cohesion among visually impaired and blind individuals.
Expressing satisfaction with the participation and support, Mr. Wibgha extended his gratitude to financial partners, administrative, customary, and religious authorities for their contributions to the forum's success. He also urged visually impaired and blind people to refrain from begging and called on authorities to consider the needs of people with disabilities in their development and peace initiatives in Burkina Faso.
