Ouagadougou: The Passor Provincial Consultation Framework (CCP) convened its second ordinary session of the year, chaired by the High Commissioner of the province, Daouda Sangar. The meeting, held on September 9, 2026, focused on improving public action at the provincial level, in the presence of several local stakeholders and CCP members.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the session addressed crucial issues, including the 2026-2027 wet agricultural campaign, the epidemiological situation in the Yako health district, freedom of association, and initiatives aimed at enhancing soil fertility and empowering rural women. High Commissioner Daouda Sangar emphasized the importance of utilizing the CCP as an instrument for decision support and public action enhancement.
The first presentation by Sidbwendin Ernest Yampa, the provincial director in charge of Agriculture, highlighted the status of the ongoing agricultural campaign. Despite challenges like late and uneven rainfall, as well as fungal attacks, the campaign is on track. Objectives include developing 468 hectares of lowland rice fields, plowing 944 hectares, and financing 90 micro-project business plans. The plan also includes distributing 1,005 tonnes of chemical fertilizers and 71 tonnes of improved seeds.
Animal health initiatives were also discussed, with plans to vaccinate large numbers of small ruminants and cattle against various diseases.
Dr. Oussni Sawadogo, the district medical officer of Yako, provided insights into the region's epidemiological situation. Malaria remains the primary health issue, with thousands of cases reported, including severe malaria resulting in several deaths, predominantly among young children.
The legal framework for associative organizations was another key topic, presented by Sadou Oudraogo, the Secretary General of the province. The discussion covered recent reforms aimed at improving the regulatory environment for associations, combating money laundering, and enhancing organizational oversight.
Becleme Bayoulou, the field coordinator of the SOIL VALUES program, outlined efforts to improve soil health and fertility, with the program operating in Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger since 2024. Souleymane Noba, representing the Network for the Promotion and Empowerment of Rural Women, discussed additional initiatives, including the National Week of Rural Women.
High Commissioner Sangar concluded the session by reiterating the CCP's role in coordinating development actions in Passor. He expressed satisfaction with the session's outcomes, urging members to continue working towards sustainable development goals and thanked partners and participants for their dedication.
