Poa:The School Council of the Poa departmental high school convened a general assembly to address operational difficulties and rally local support to enhance the students' learning environment.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the Secretary General of the School Council, Victor Kaboré, who is also an English teacher at the school, highlighted the primary challenges facing the institution. These include securing financial support for essential staff such as the caretaker, the secretary, and the meal-preparation team in the school canteen.
Additional concerns involve the need to repair or replace furniture, rehabilitate classrooms, and address the lack of parking for administrative staff. Victor Kaboré noted the absence of a dedicated teachers' room, necessitating the temporary use of the students' computer room for this purpose.
The School Council is appealing to parents for support, particularly by encouraging student participation in tutoring programs that can enhance academic performance. With over 650 students enrolled, a contribution of 1,000 CFA francs per student is requested to support the proposed activities.
The principal, Tasséré Zoungrana, emphasized the collective responsibility of the community in supporting educational institutions. He urged local authorities and residents to become actively involved and highlighted a government initiative to establish school gardens by December 30th.
Furthermore, Zoungrana pointed out that while eight high schools in the Boulkiemdé province have been upgraded to comprehensive high schools, Poa's high school has not yet benefited from this development. He called for increased local stakeholder involvement to achieve similar progress.
His Majesty Naaba Kaongo of Poa urged the community to commit to local development, stressing the importance of solidarity and hospitality. He encouraged all residents, whether in Poa or elsewhere, to support initiatives that benefit the municipality.
Parent Zallé Seni expressed appreciation for the clarity provided by the headmaster on the School Council's role and urged members to take decisive action. Boukary Somanda echoed the call for active community participation, emphasizing shared responsibility in the commune's development.
The general assembly aims to strengthen community mobilization around educational challenges and foster greater involvement from parents and stakeholders in improving learning conditions at the Poa departmental high school.
