Poni: More than forty young women from the commune of Bouroum-Bouroum received intensive training in soap making and koko douda (a type of soap), thanks to the R©f©rent Opportunit©s Insertions (ROPI) initiative, with the support of the local authorities. This activity is part of the national effort to promote women's entrepreneurship and combat poverty in rural areas.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the session was organized over several days, allowing participants to acquire practical skills in soap making, dyeing Koko douda loincloth, as well as hygiene and safety rules. Basic concepts of management, marketing, and sales were also taught to promote the creation of sustainable income-generating activities.
ROPI representative Bªbª Kambou stated that this initiative responds to the desire of public authorities to offer concrete prospects for socio-economic integration to young people, particularly girls in rural areas. "This training is a real lever for empowerment. Beyond technical learning, it offers beneficiaries practical tools to undertake and actively participate in local development," he said.
He also invited the beneficiaries to demonstrate perseverance and to prioritize the spirit of solidarity, particularly through the establishment of cooperatives, to strengthen their competitiveness in the local and regional market.
On behalf of the participants, Martine Pooda expressed her gratitude to the organizers and the municipal authorities for their support. 'This training is an opportunity for us. It strengthens our know-how and our self-confidence. We commit to putting the acquired knowledge into practice to contribute to family responsibilities and the development of our community,' she said.
She also advocated for the sustainability and expansion of this type of initiative to other young girls, believing that the economic empowerment of women remains an essential pillar of community development. The closing ceremony took place in an atmosphere marked by enthusiasm and hope, with the announcement of upcoming training sessions for the benefit of young women in Bouroum-Bouroum.
