Sissili: The inhabitants of the villages of Tanvi and Nakamtenga, in the commune of Koubri, organised on Thursday a community operation to improve the road leading to the Health and Social Promotion Centre (CSPS) of Tanvi-Nakamtenga, thus illustrating their civic engagement and their desire to contribute to local development.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative, led by the local population with the support of citizen monitoring actors, particularly the Wayiyans, aims to improve access to this health infrastructure which serves the inhabitants of the two localities on a daily basis. From the early hours of the morning, men, women and young people mobilized, equipped with shovels, picks, tricycles and other equipment, to carry out leveling and rehabilitation work on the road in order to make it more usable in all seasons.

The participants noted that this community action will facilitate the movement of users of the health center, in particular pregnant women, children, the elderly, and patients requiring rapid care. It will also help to improve medical evacuations as well as the transport of goods and people between the two villages.

The initiators believe that local development must first and foremost be based on the commitment of the communities themselves, through concrete actions of solidarity and mutual aid. For them, every citizen has a role to play in building a more resilient and prosperous community.

Present alongside the people, the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Koubri, comrade Samad© L©onard Gougou, praised this mobilization which he described as exemplary. He congratulated the residents of Tanvi and Nakamtenga as well as the members of the Wayiyans citizen watch for their patriotism, their sense of responsibility, and their contribution to the development of the commune.

"This strong mobilization demonstrates that when the sons and daughters of a locality join forces around a common ideal, they can meet the challenges of development and sustainably improve their living conditions," he said. The PDS also invited the people to continue this community dynamic, which guarantees the strengthening of social cohesion, responsible citizenship, and the active participation of the inhabitants in the management and development of their land.
