Abuja: A 21-year-old woman, eight months pregnant, died in a well on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in the village of Sipigui, Kourinion commune, after suffering an epileptic seizure while drawing water. The tragedy occurred around 10:00 a.m. in this locality in the K©n©dougou province.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the woman, identified as HT, had a history of epilepsy. On the day of the incident, she was at the village well to draw water when she experienced a seizure, causing her to fall into the well.
The president of the Sipigui Village Development Council, San Coulibaly, along with village youth representative Kalifa Traor©, confirmed the details of the incident. They noted that HT was born in 2005 and was in the late stages of her pregnancy.
Residents attempted immediate rescue efforts before notifying the Banfora National Fire Brigade. Firefighters arrived at the scene and managed to retrieve the body. Despite the swift actions of both the local community and rescue services, HT could not be saved.
