President Traore Unveils Ambitious Plan for Africa’s Densest Motorway Network

Ouagadougou: The President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, announced his intention to equip Burkina Faso with the densest motorway network in Africa. This ambitious plan involves a comprehensive investment and modernization program aimed at transforming the country's infrastructure.

According to Burkina Information Agency, President Traore highlighted the urgent need to improve traffic conditions, specifically on the Ouagadougou - Bobo-Dioulasso axis, which has experienced numerous fatal accidents in recent years. He emphasized that the current road conditions and increased traffic necessitate the construction of modern infrastructure.

President Traore explained that the volume of vehicles on the RN1 axis requires a significant upgrade from the existing two-by-two-lane roads to a more extensive four-by-two-lane motorway. He has instructed technical services to elevate the standards in response to the growing demands.

The Faso Mªbo initiative plays a crucial role in this development, enabling the acquisition of essential equipment for road construction, including earthmoving machinery, bitumen production units, and granite crushing plants. This initiative marks a step towards national self-reliance in infrastructure development.

Beyond the strategic Ouagadougou - Bobo-Dioulasso axis, President Traore outlined a broader vision to connect all regional capitals and major national exits with highways. He views this project as vital for both economic growth and security.

Projections suggest that Burkina Faso's motorway network will become the densest in Africa, with additional facilities planned to enhance current capacities. President Traore aims to achieve a significant advancement in road infrastructure within the next five years by leveraging internal resources and bolstering national expertise.
