Ouagadougou: The Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Roland Somda, installed the Monitoring and Supervision Committee for the construction of sports infrastructure within the framework of the Presidential Initiative for the Next Generation and the Sports Elite (IP-RELIS) with the mission of ensuring the proper conduct, rigorous monitoring, and constant evaluation of said work.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the National Monitoring and Supervision Committee established consists of a coordination unit, a national technical monitoring and supervision commission, and 13 regional monitoring and supervision commissions, among others. This initiative is a strategic program encompassing all 13 regions, aiming to equip Burkina Faso with modern, accessible, and sustainable sports infrastructure.
The first phase includes five regions: Kaya, Ziniare, Koudougou, Ouahigouya, and Ouagadougou. A timetable from June to December 2025 has been set by the committee to oversee the projects in this phase, which will precede the second part of the initiative concerning four additional regions.
Minister Roland Somda emphasized the need for the full commitment of all stakeholders, including the mobilization of sports movements at the national level, to ensure the success of the initiative. He highlighted the importance of active involvement and transparency from key actors and encouraged the Burkinabe people to support the vision of His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traor©, President of Faso, Head of State, for equitable and sustainable development.
The monitoring and supervision committee members are tasked with ensuring the proper conduct, rigorous monitoring, and constant evaluation of IP-RELIS, reflecting a commitment to public service and accountability. The committee was created by decree no. 2025-017/MSJE/CAB on April 1, 2025.
