Guiriko: The Prime Minister's Office is popularizing the laws on the status of heroes, martyrs, and disabled people of the Nation. The Secretariat of the National Commission for the Analysis and Monitoring of the Files of Heroes, Martyrs and Disabled Persons of the Nation, under the Prime Minister's Office, initiated on Thursday a workshop to popularize the laws relating to the status of heroes, martyrs and disabled persons of the Nation, as well as their implementing texts.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the opening ceremony, chaired by Mariama Konat©/Gnanou, Governor of the Guiriko region, was held at the Monseigneur Anselme Titianma Sanon Cultural Center. The workshop aims to strengthen the knowledge of key stakeholders in the region regarding the legislative and regulatory provisions governing these different statuses.

The event provides a framework for informing and strengthening the capacities of the population on the support mechanisms put in place by the State for the benefit of defenders of the homeland and their families. Governor Mariama Konat©/Gnanou highlighted the humanitarian and security implications of these reforms, stating the necessity for the population to familiarize themselves with the law to ensure their cases are processed correctly.

Pegd©bamba Esther Som©/Kiema, Head of the Department of Administrative, Legal, Institutional and Political Governance (DGAJIP) of the Prime Minister's Office, elaborated on the technical aspects of the legislation. She explained that the workshop would include four presentations on the laws affecting heroes, martyrs, disabled persons, and wards of the Nation, detailing the procedures to follow for recognition.

She further emphasized the ethical and social foundations of these statuses, underlining the importance of recognizing the commitment of citizens who sacrifice their wellbeing for the Nation. The workshop participants are now encouraged to internalize these legal texts to act as information conduits within their respective communities.
