Koubri:The Koubri district police station, led by Chief Superintendent Paterne Boussim, executed the destruction of prohibited goods valued at over 13 million CFA francs. The operation, held on September 25, 2026, targeted products such as drinks, cigarettes, and medicines.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the destruction was witnessed by Samad Lonard Gougou, president of the special delegation of Koubri, alongside several stakeholders in the anti-fraud and public protection sectors.

Officials at the police station stated that the products were seized during various control operations and were deemed unfit for consumption, posing public health risks.

The chief police commissioner noted that the seizures, made possible through information and collaboration with free security initiatives, previously included chickens and liver illegally imported from a neighboring country.

Fraud not only impacts public health but also presents economic challenges. The sale of counterfeit goods undermines state revenue, weakens legitimate businesses, and destabilizes the national economy.

The destruction of medicines, beverages, and cigarettes underscores a significant public health concern, as consuming products with uncertain origins and storage conditions can endanger the population.

Koubri's PDS emphasized the need for all parties to unite in combating fraud and the sale of prohibited goods. The district commissioner praised the police efforts and urged the public to strengthen their cooperation in preventing the importation of such products.

This action demonstrates the authorities' commitment to cleansing the local market, safeguarding consumers, and combating illicit commercial practices.
