Prosecutors Seek 30-Year Sentence for Gold Miner Accused of Incitement

Bobo-Dioulasso:Prosecutors in Bobo-Dioulasso have requested a 30-year prison sentence for a gold miner accused of incitement. The trial, held on October 26, 2026, involved MD, a 30-year-old miner, charged with inciting a murder against his younger brother.

According to Burkina Information Agency, MD allegedly offered 1.5 million FCFA to individuals to kill his brother due to a conflict over a gold mining site. The brother survived an attack thanks to a passerby's intervention.

MD contended that his intention was not to kill but to scare his brother into leaving the mining site. Meanwhile, the plaintiff is demanding 8 million FCFA in damages. The court is set to deliver its verdict on November 9, 2026.
