Raising of National Colors Highlights Key Initiatives in Soum Province

Kaya: The Secretary General of the Soum province, Loss©ni IIe jumeau Woni, on Monday, took stock of the main activities carried out during the month of May in the province, on the occasion of the traditional ceremony of raising the national colors held in the premises of the High Commission of Djibo. The ceremony brought together administrative and military authorities, customary and religious leaders, representatives of non-governmental organizations, associations, and cooperatives, as well as many citizens who came to take part in this act of civic duty and republican communion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Secretary General recalled the main actions carried out during the past month in several sectors of provincial life. In the field of education and training, he noted the continued promotion of national languages by the Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary, and Non-Formal Education. He also mentioned the launch of the sports events for the Junior High School Certificate (BEPC) and the Baccalaureate, 2026 session, at the Djibo Provincial High School, as well as the holding of preparatory meetings for the written exams. The certification assessments for non-formal education were also officially launched in the province.

Regarding culture and national identity, Mr. Woni cited the awareness-raising activities organized as part of the "School and Heritage" initiative in Djielgodji, in the Djibo I Basic Education District, aimed at promoting the preservation of cultural values and heritage. He also mentioned the celebration of National Customs and Traditions Day.

In terms of security, the Secretary General mentioned the organization of the National Police professional competition for the benefit of agents in the province, thus contributing to the strengthening of the capacities of the security forces. Turning to social cohesion and religious affairs, he noted the visit made by a provincial delegation to the Grand Mosque of Djibo on the occasion of Eid al-Adha (Tabaski), with the aim of strengthening fraternity, community spirit, and solidarity among the communities.

Looking ahead, the Secretary General of the province indicated that efforts will remain focused on the success of school exams, strengthening security, promoting civic responsibility, and supporting development actions for the benefit of the people of Soum.
