Raising of National Colors in Banfora: Governor Urges Vigilance and Commitment

Tannounyan: The second traditional raising of the national colors in 2026 was conducted on February 2 at the High Commission of Banfora. This event saw the presence of administrative, customary, and religious authorities, along with military and paramilitary forces and the vital forces of the Tannounyan region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Mathieu Tingueri, the High Commissioner of Comoe Province, conveyed his gratitude to the Governor of the Tannounyan Region for choosing Banfora High Commission as the host for this significant ceremony. Tingueri applauded the strong participation of civil society, which he viewed as a testament to the population's dedication to republican values. He highlighted the symbolic importance of raising the national flag as a reminder of unity, loyalty, discipline, and a commitment to serving Burkina Faso.

During the ceremony, the governor of Tannounyan expressed appreciation to the participants for supporting this patriotic practice, underscoring its role in promoting national unity. He discussed the institutional reforms implemented at the start of 2026. These reforms include mergers and name changes for certain ministerial departments to ensure coherent government actions and align them with public aspirations.

The governor also informed attendees about the government's adoption of the "RELANCE Plan" during a Council of Ministers meeting on January 29, 2026. This development framework aims to establish Burkina Faso as a sovereign and prosperous nation focused on sustainable development. He echoed President Captain Ibrahim Traore's call for civil servants and stakeholders to exhibit commitment and resilience.

Addressing national issues, Patrice Yeye highlighted attempts to destabilize institutions, urging vigilance and the prompt reporting of suspicious activities to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS).

Regionally, he praised the ''Deme sira'' campaign, noting that financial contributions in the region have reached nearly 16 million CFA francs, showcasing community solidarity. The governor encouraged administrative officials, customary and religious leaders, and civil society to be proactive and diligent, essential for the success of the popular progressive revolution's major projects.

He concluded by honoring the courage and sacrifice of fighting forces, expressing solidarity with the wounded and families in mourning. The ceremony ended with a call for collective efforts towards security, peace, and development in Burkina Faso, emphasizing solidarity and shared patriotism.
