Iolonioro: The Iolonioro departmental high school hosted on April 6, 2026, the traditional monthly ceremony of raising the national colors, in the presence of administrative authorities, constituted bodies, students, teachers, administrative staff and parents of students.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was organized on the eve of the closing of the Days of Patriotic Commitment and Citizen Participation and was presided over by Joachin Konkobo, the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune. Gathered around the flag, the students and visitors sang the national anthem in French, reaffirming their commitment to patriotism, civic duty, and social cohesion.
The principal of the departmental high school, Sambagn¨ Patrice Kambou, highlighted the persistence of school dropout, emphasizing the crucial role of education in shaping responsible citizens. He expressed concern over students who have not returned to classes since the resumption, indicating this as a troubling issue for the local education system.
Kambou urged the present students to act as awareness relays to their absent classmates, encouraging them to return to school. He called for the involvement of local authorities, social partners, and parents to intensify awareness-raising efforts to ensure the return and retention of students in schools.
Joachin Konkobo, echoing Kambou's concerns, called on parents and social partners to serve as intermediaries within communities to promote schooling and combat dropout. He reiterated the municipality's commitment to supporting educational initiatives, particularly through awareness campaigns aimed at increasing school attendance and reducing dropout rates.
In his closing remarks, Konkobo thanked all participants for their strong mobilization and commitment to the success of presidential initiatives launched by Comrade Captain Ibrahim Traore within the municipality.
