Ramongo: The commune of Ramongo marked on Wednesday the official launch of the activities of the National Tree Day (JNA), coupled with the national reforestation campaign 2026. This celebration, placed under the banner of civic engagement, was punctuated by a cleanup operation and a vast campaign to plant seedlings.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative was chaired by the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the Ramongo municipality, Kouna Yvette Sar©. It is fully aligned with national guidelines aimed at restoring vegetation cover, preserving natural resources, and promoting genuine environmental citizenship.
The day began with the traditional raising of the national colors, demonstrating the patriotic spirit of the participants. This was followed by a large-scale cleanup operation that mobilized the heads of decentralized services, municipal employees, and key members of the community. The cleanup operation targeted the main public spaces, including the town hall grounds, the Health and Social Promotion Centre (CSPS), the prefecture, and the site of the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP).
Following this, the focus shifted to the reforestation campaign, under the theme "One Institution, One Grove." Seedlings were planted at the aforementioned public services as well as at the education inspectorate. Furthermore, seedlings were provided to the village health centers, the Ramongo Departmental High School, and the local general education colleges (CEGs) to cover the entire municipal territory.
In her address, PDS Kouna Yvette Sar© stressed that this dynamic responds to the vision of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, who makes the restoration of vegetation cover a strategic lever for sustainable development and climate resilience. She seized this opportunity to make an urgent appeal to service providers and the public. "It's not enough to plant; it must be planted for good." To this end, she urged stakeholders to ensure rigorous monitoring of the plants, through watering and the installation of protective measures, to guarantee their survival rate.
The mayor of the municipality urged the sons and daughters of Ramongo to maintain their commitment to the sustainable reforestation of the area. She stated that every tree cared for is an investment in the well-being of current and future generations.
