Ouagadougou: The Provincial Directorate of Sports, Youth and Employment (DPSJE) of Sissili, in partnership with the “Andal et Pinal” association, organized community days in Lo on August 22 and 23, 2026, to promote peace and social cohesion through board games and awareness sessions. These community days were held under the chairmanship of the High Commissioner of Sissili, Twind Isaac Sia.
According to Burkina Information Agency, for two days, the premises of the Provincial Directorate served as a forum for exchange and camaraderie among local stakeholders. The provincial secretary general, Baowindsida Bingo, representing the high commissioner, noted that the event fostered genuine interaction within the population. ‘When there is this rapprochement, it strengthens the bonds of solidarity, fraternity and social cohesion,’ he stressed, while launching an appeal for youth unity for the development of Sissili.
The program was marked by tournaments of p©tanque, scrabble, cards, ludo, and checkers, community meals, as well as two awareness-raising communications. Comrade Foungui Issa Par, an agent at the DPSJE, developed the theme “Social cohesion and promotion of peace through leisure activities”, as did Comrade Kassim Napon, who communicated on the theme “Youth and culture of peace”. At the end of the competitions, the winners of each discipline received congratulations and financial support.
The provincial director of sports, Denis Nikima, welcomed the massive presence of young people, women, and seniors. He emphasized the educational role of play, stating that respect for the rules of leisure activities, when applied to daily life, promotes respect for societal rules and living together.
According to Boukhari Diallo, the HR manager of the partner association “Andal et Pinal,” the initiative achieved its goal of inter-community understanding. He encouraged participants to become “ambassadors of peace” within their respective communities. Among the competitors, p©tanque player Ramatoulaye Yaro expressed her satisfaction despite her defeat, highlighting the importance of these gatherings in fostering mutual understanding and love among participants.
