Ouagadougou: The Secretary General (SG) of the Sahel region, Auguste Kinda, inaugurated the regional coordination of the Thomas Sankara International Memorial Committee (CIM-TS) for Liptako on Wednesday in Dori. The inauguration ceremony was held under the theme: 'Heirs of Thomas Sankara united for the preservation of the memory and ideals of Thomas Sankara.' It brought together constituted bodies, civil society actors, and several influential figures who came to testify to their attachment to the memory of Captain Sankara.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the new regional coordination of the CIM-TS, composed of 8 members, is now headed by Moussa Diallo. In his speech, Diallo recalled that the committee's main mission is to defend and promote Sankarist ideals through awareness-raising, civic education, and community mobilization. He emphasized that youth must be at the heart of this dynamic, as they represent "the driving force indispensable to the defense and perpetuation of the popular progressive revolution."
Diallo invited the young people of the Sahel to embrace the Sankara cause and to support all initiatives aimed at promoting the thought of Captain Sankara, based on sovereignty, integrity, political courage, and social justice. He stressed the need to keep alive the ideals of Thomas Sankara, which he stated are an essential reference point for current and future generations.
The Secretary General of the Sahel region, Auguste Kinda, praised the commitment of the newly installed team and encouraged the coordination to further mobilize the youth of Liptako. He highlighted the importance of youth as "the spearhead and vanguard of the popular progressive revolution." For Kinda, no dynamic of social transformation can succeed without a conscious, determined, and resolutely committed youth in defense of national sovereignty.
Battalion Commander Amadou Sanou, the guest of honor, emphasized that the progressive popular revolution relies on the support and backing of the people. He noted that the creation of this coordination strengthens social mobilization efforts in favor of the development and assertion of sovereignty of Burkina Faso.
