Mouhoun: The reopening of several schools closed for security reasons in the commune of Bondoukuy marks a significant step towards normalcy. After several years of closure following the deterioration of the security situation, the schools in the villages of Makouna, Bouenivouloun, Koumana, Nia, Bodomakohtile, Kiniomir, Dourou, Gangabouli, and Yamazale are preparing to reopen their doors on the occasion of the start of the school year set for October 1, 2025. This is the observation made to the authorities in charge of education in Bondokuy on the occasion of the administrative start of the school year on September 15, 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this decision, the result of a collective commitment, constitutes a major milestone in the dynamic of returning to normal and in the restoration of children’s fundamental right to education. Thanks to the joint mobilization of administrative authorities, the Defense and Security Forces, educational supervisors, and education partners, the conditions were met to allow students to return to their schools in their home towns.
It is in this logic that on the occasion of the 2025-2026 school year, the schools of the villages of Makouna, Bouenivouloun, Koumana, Nia, Bodomakohtile, Kiniomir, Dourou, Gangabouli, and Yamazale, in the commune of Bondokuy, will be reopened. It should be noted that during the closure of these establishments, the students were redeployed to Bondokuy, where, with the constant support of educational and social actors, their school career was able to continue without significant interruption.
The reopening of schools in the greater West of the Bondokuy Basic Education District (CEB) also reflects the desire of the State and its partners to strengthen security and consolidate social cohesion. Local communities, in synergy with the FDS and educational partners, intend to multiply initiatives so that education is never again interrupted by insecurity.
