Zondoma: The people of Zorgho responded in large numbers on Saturday to the call of the High Commissioner of the province of Ganzourgou, Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, for a sanitation operation within the grounds of the High Commission and the Prefecture.According to Burkina Information Agency, the participants, equipped with rakes, brooms, shovels, machetes, and other cleaning tools, cleared the area of plastic bags, weeds, and dead leaves. This activity was part of the first two weeks of the third annual National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation (JEPPC).Several officials joined the High Commissioner in the operation, including the Special Advisor to the President of Burkina Faso on Good Governance, Ragnang-Newende Isidore Tiemtore; the Secretary General of the province, Harouna Karambiri; the President of the Zorgho Municipal Special Delegation, Valentin Badolo; as well as provincial directors and heads of services. Representatives from the public and private sectors, the defense and securit y forces, civil society organizations, and members of the citizen watchdog were also present.The High Commissioner expressed her satisfaction with the turnout, emphasizing that the initiative aims to clean up administrative spaces and certain public areas. She noted that the activity is part of the broader National Days of Patriotic Engagement and Civic Participation, focusing on the theme of 'buying local.'Ms. Sorgho/Gouba highlighted that these days are meant to encourage responsible behavior, especially concerning waste management and the promotion of local products. She also used the platform to stress the importance of expanding the initiative and urged citizens to maintain cleanliness in their own environments and communities.The event fostered a collaborative spirit, uniting participants under a common goal: to sustainably enhance the living conditions in the city of Zorgho.
