Residents of Bouss© Mobilize Funds for Local Defense Volunteers

Kourw©ogo: Residents of Bouss© are raising funds to equip the VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland). The special delegation of the municipality of Bouss© held a consultation meeting on Saturday, March 28, 2026, with residents of the locality living in Ouagadougou, with a view to mobilizing financial resources for the acquisition of motorcycles for the benefit of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting brought together local authorities and community leaders to discuss strengthening the operational capabilities of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in Bouss©. The President of the Special Delegation (PDS), Issiaka Ganemtor©, stated that the initiative aims to acquire approximately twenty vehicles to improve the mobility of the VDP members involved in securing the municipality.

Members of the resource mobilization committee, including Madi Sawadogo and Michel Ou©draogo, presented the motivations behind the initiative and the steps taken with the local community. They indicated that contributions already recorded amount to 4,905,500 CFA francs, with 4,205,500 CFA francs collected by the town hall and 700,000 CFA francs by the youth committee. "This amount, considered encouraging, nevertheless remains below the target estimated at approximately 15 million CFA francs," stated the PDS.

In light of this situation, participants formulated several recommendations, including the establishment of a second money transfer number, organizing collections in the villages of the municipality, and creating a directory of economic operators and agents in the public and private sectors. They agreed to meet again in three weeks to review the progress of the contributions.

During the discussions, the special delegation also presented a summary of actions undertaken between 2022 and 2025, including the construction of infrastructure to improve civil registration services, support for health and educational facilities, and the construction of shops and drilling of equipped boreholes in various localities. Furthermore, information was provided on the progress of urban development projects, particularly land subdivision operations and the implementation of the master plan.

Land agent Omar Koama briefed the attendees on the progress of ongoing urban development projects in the municipality, including the SONATUR subdivision and the "Cit© des Forces Vives" (City of Living Forces) project. "After several steps and consultations with landowners, these projects are nearing completion," he stated.

On the security front, central police commissioner Ousmane Nakanabo indicated that the situation in the commune remains relatively calm. He nevertheless called for vigilance and collaboration from the community to prevent crime and combat incivility on the roads, the consumption of adulterated alcohol, and especially the cases of child drowning frequently observed during the winter months.

The special delegation also urged residents to become more involved in raising awareness among the population to support development and planning initiatives in the municipality. One participant, Hamado Ilboudo, praised the initiative, believing that this forum for discussion allowed residents to learn more about life in the municipality and contribute to discussions on its development.
