Sandbondtenga: The non-governmental organization Oxfam organized a roundtable discussion on best practices in resilience and protection for internally displaced women on Thursday, November 13, 2025, in Kaya. This event is part of the second phase of the project entitled 'From Community-Based Protection Programming to Community-Led Protection Programming: Putting People at the Center of the Discussion on How to Effectively Mitigate the Harmful Effects of Protracted Conflict and Climate Change.' The project is being implemented in the communes of Kaya and Barsalogho, in the Koulse region.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the forum brought together various key players, including administrative authorities from the Koulse region, representatives of national and international NGOs, members of beneficiary communities, representatives of civil society organizations, experts in protection, resilience and humanitarian action, as well as community leaders and media professionals.
The main objective has been to promote resilience and protection approaches for internally displaced persons, returnees and host communities, through the sharing and capitalization of good practices in the context of humanitarian crisis.
According to Oxfam Burkina's resident representative, Omer Kabore, this forum "aims to share and capitalize on successful experiences, but also to analyze together the limitations and challenges encountered in the implementation of resilience and protection initiatives."
In Mr. Kabore's opinion, this forum provides a framework for promoting constructive dialogue between humanitarian actors, authorities and communities to identify what works, strengthen what needs strengthening and innovate in their respective approaches.
The discussions took place in plenary sessions and workshops, where participants shared successful experiences, challenges encountered, and limitations in terms of resilience and protection. Personal accounts from internally displaced persons and representatives of host communities, along with video screenings, helped reinforce the identified best practices.
Commending the resilience of the region's people, Idrissa Gamsonre, High Commissioner of Sandbondtenga Province and president of the ceremony, reaffirmed the regional authorities' commitment to supporting any initiative that puts people first. He expressed his satisfaction with the active participation of those present and commended the results achieved, emphasizing that the roundtable's objectives had been largely met.
Recommendations have been made to improve humanitarian interventions and strengthen the resilience of vulnerable communities.
