Russia demands cessation of strikes on Syrian territory

Russia demands an end to strikes on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic, which are undermining all efforts for a political settlement of the conflict in the country, Russia's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky said."The cessation of the foreign military presence, which violates the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, is an imperative for lasting stabilization in this country."We also demand the unconditional cessation of airstrikes against Syrian territory, since due to the attacks, all efforts at political regulation are doomed to failure," he explained at a meeting of the UN Security Council. The Russian diplomat added that the key to peace in Syria could be "the West's abandonment of its anti-Syrian policy and the establishment of normal, fair and mutually respectful relations with the Syrian Arab Republic." "We note in this regard positive developments in a number of European capitals."We hope that these seeds will complement the c onstructive changes in the normalization of relations with the Syrian Arab Republic undertaken by Syria's neighbors in the region. This will benefit the Syrians and all of us," Polianski summed up.Source: Burkina Information Agency
