Ouagadougou: The Russian Federation has invested over 149 million CFA francs in the renovation of school infrastructure at the Ouezzin Coulibaly camp in Bobo-Dioulasso to provide students with a healthy learning environment. The keys were handed over on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony was attended by Lieutenant-Colonel Lassane Porgo, representing the Minister of State, Minister of War and Patriotic Defense. He praised the excellent relations between Burkina Faso and Russia, stating that since the signing of the memorandum of understanding in August 2025, cooperation between the two countries has reached a historic level. The military partnership forms the foundation for territorial reconquest, while the humanitarian aspect being celebrated adds a human dimension.

Lieutenant-Colonel Porgo further emphasized Burkina Faso's commitment to diversifying its partnerships under the vision of President Captain Ibrahim Traore. He highlighted the strategic importance of Russian support in training future generations, noting that their partnership goes beyond military aid to include educational support.

Commander Artem Shutiaev, the deputy military attach© at the Russian embassy, reiterated Russia's commitment to assisting the Burkinabe people. He assured that the Russian Ministry of Defense would continue its support to Burkina Faso.

The ceremony also included a guided tour of a farm for wounded soldiers at Camp Ouezzin Coulibaly, where a symbolic pineapple harvest took place. Lieutenant-Colonel Porgo explained that the reintegration initiative at the farm empowers soldiers wounded in action, encouraging them to remain productive.

The agricultural and poultry production at the site, conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, was praised for its quality.
