Samand©ni: The Faso Tourism Agency announced on Monday in Samand©ni the official launch of the 4th edition of the Great Domestic Tourism Season of Burkina Faso, scheduled for July 4 and 5, 2026, at the Samand©ni dam site. The announcement was made by the Director General of Faso Tourisme, Sulaman Kagon©, during a press conference held in the presence of the administrative authorities of the municipality of Bama, stakeholders in the tourism sector, as well as several partners.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Mr. Kagon© emphasized that Burkina Faso is rich in cultural and tourist attractions that deserve to be better known and promoted. From natural landscapes and historical sites to traditions, local expertise, and the hospitality of its communities, the country possesses considerable assets for tourism development. He noted that the organization of this 4th edition is part of a dynamic to promote national tourism with the ambition of making Burkinabe the first tourists in their own country.
The Director General highlighted that the latest national tourism inventory lists 1,080 tourist sites, 939 accommodation establishments, 272 travel and tourism agencies, and 744 restaurants. However, he pointed out that the sector continues to face the consequences of the security crisis, making domestic tourism a concrete solution to support its recovery. "The goal is to encourage Burkinabe people to discover and rediscover the riches of their country, to consume Burkinabe products and to actively participate in boosting the national economy," he stated.
Several innovations will mark this edition, notably the choice of Samand©ni as the host city, considered one of the country's main tourist hubs. The program also includes the Faso Tourism Grand Prix, which will combine sport, tourism, and the discovery of national heritage, as well as days dedicated to promoting domestic tourism.
The organizers have also launched an appeal to private companies, the media, partners, and people of goodwill to support this initiative which aims to strengthen the attractiveness of national destinations. For his part, the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Bama, F©lix Bay©, welcomed the selection of his municipality to host the event. He called on the population to mobilize in large numbers and expressed his hope that the municipalities bordering the dam would join forces to make this activity a platform for tourism, social cohesion, and local development.
At the end of the press conference, the organizers reaffirmed their conviction that the Great Domestic Tourism Season is a real lever for economic, cultural, and social development, while promoting the enhancement and transmission of endogenous potential to younger generations.
