Sandbondtenga: The Citizen and Community Action Association for Resilience and Development (ACCORD) distributed materials and equipment to 26 young project leaders from the communes of Boulsa, Boussouma, Kaya, and Korsimoro on Thursday in Kaya. The handover ceremony was presided over by the High Commissioner of Sandbondtenga Province, Idrissa Gamsonre.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the distribution followed training in several trades, including hairdressing, tailoring, motorcycle mechanics, welding, dyeing/weaving, building electricity, agri-food processing, market gardening, woodworking, metalwork, and fishmongering. This initiative provided 26 young men and women from the specified communes with professional installation kits.
The support, valued at approximately 17 million FCFA, was made possible through funding from German cooperation and the European Union, as part of a project aimed at developing entrepreneurial skills for young people in the Koulse region.
Valery Gustave Sawadogo, president of the donor association, stated that the equipment serves as "a concrete lever" to help beneficiaries revive or consolidate their income-generating activities, especially in a context marked by vulnerabilities.
Idrissa Gamsonre, the High Commissioner of Sandbondtenga Province, pointed out that "these tools are an opportunity but also a responsibility," emphasizing that their proper use, maintenance, and enhancement are crucial for sustaining the anticipated outcomes.
He highlighted the importance of using these tools to create value, strengthen economic autonomy, and foster social cohesion between internally displaced persons and host communities.
Beneficiaries, including Sawadogo Adjara, an internally displaced person, expressed gratitude to the donors and committed to making good use of the equipment received.
Ga«tan Gorou, head of the solidarity department at the Koulse Regional Directorate of Family and Solidarity, reaffirmed the department's commitment to supporting initiatives that contribute to the protection, resilience, and sustainable improvement of living conditions for vulnerable populations in the region.
