According to Burkina Information Agency, the provincial director in charge of humanitarian action highlighted that interventions by humanitarian actors in 2025 successfully addressed the urgent needs of affected populations in Sandbondtenga. The return of more than a hundred villages was attributed to the efforts of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). Abdoulaye Bamogo emphasized the importance of continued partner mobilization and enhanced coordination to achieve sustainable solutions for supporting returns.
He recommended improved coordination of the humanitarian-development-peace nexus, bolstering community resilience, expanding the geographical reach of activities, securing additional funding, and increasing local community involvement in responses.
Lieutenant Ousmane Zerbo, commander of the Kaya gendarmerie company, confirmed that the reconquest of the territory is a reality in the province. He stated that achieving lasting results requires a collective effort, with the priority being to ensure the safety and accessibility of localities for a sustainable and resilient return of IDPs.
