Ouagadougou: The Minister in charge of the Civil Service, Mathias Traore, emphasized the importance of the customary festival “Sangaba,” celebrated in Samorogouan, as a vital source of social cohesion among the community. This statement was made during the conclusion of the 2025 edition of the festival, held under the theme “Culture and tradition in a surge of social cohesion.”
According to Burkina Information Agency, Mathias Traore described the festival as a revitalizing force for social unity and a sacred wish for good harvests during the upcoming rainy season. He expressed gratitude to the people of Samorogouan for involving him in the event’s organization and urged the community to use the festival as a chance to strengthen cultural commitments. Traore highlighted the importance of training young people in ancestral practices, documenting rites, and promoting artistic experiences.
Daouda Traore, president of the organizing committee, noted the festival as a response to ancestral calls and a declaration of Samorogouan’s cultural roots. He appreciated the strong community participation and presented several requests to Minister Traore on behalf of the local population. These included the rehabilitation of roads, the opening of a medical center, construction of a cultural center, and improved telephone coverage.
Kongna Zoumana Traore, President of the special delegation of Samorogouan, remarked that the festival’s organization signifies resilience and social cohesion. He linked this to the vision of Captain Ibrahim Traore and the government’s initiative to celebrate Customs and Traditions Day on May 15 each year, promoting customs and fostering communication among populations.
The festival concluded with a donation of food by Samorogouan notables to the Defense and Security Forces as support for their security missions, and a parade featuring women from Kourouma and the Diaspora.
