Sanguié: A non-timber forest products fair to empower actors in the chain

The 1st edition of the promotional days for fruit, vegetables and non-timber forest products from the Centre-Ouest took place from June 9 to 11, 2023 in Réo, under the high patronage of the Minister in charge of the Public Service, Bassolma Bazié, of Agriculture, Dr Denis Ouédraogo and governor of the Center-West region, Boubakar Nouhoun Traoré.

Carried by the regional consular delegation of the Centre-West, the promotional days for fruits, vegetables and non-timber forest products of the said region, had as their theme: “What contribution of the fruit and vegetable sectors to the resilience of rural populations? ".

By organizing this fair, the chamber of commerce thus intends to contribute to animate the private sector in the region while aiming to make the actors of the chain autonomous. ,.

“It was time to put the actors in battle order in order to further boost the sectors in question, especially since the region is full of great potential in this area,” said the president of the regional consular delegation, Issa Semdé.

The spokesman for the producers, Eugène Bamouni, indicated that this initiative constitutes a boon for them in the sense that the opportunity is given to them to expose the various difficulties experienced by the brave producers from production to marketing.

"Anything that will draw the attention of decision-makers to their cry of heart, that of accompanying them consequently for a better contribution on their part to the achievement of food self-sufficiency", he added.

The actors of the rural world wanted support for a better organization of their sectors from production, which needs good water and fertilizer reservoirs, to marketing with storage warehouses and markets.

The sponsor of the ceremony, Minister in charge of Agriculture, Dr. Denis Ouedraogo, congratulated the producers for their quality productions and expressed his satisfaction to see that the actors are sparing no effort to contribute to the resilience of the populations.

He said he took good note of the difficulties that are hindering their momentum and will see to what extent the ministry can provide answers to their concerns.

After the cutting of the ribbon, a guided tour allowed the officials to touch the productions exhibited in about sixty stands
