Ouagadougou: The Secretary General of the Government has been elevated to the rank of minister following a recent decree adopted by the Council of Ministers. This decision was part of a comprehensive revision of the organization and responsibilities of both the General Secretariat of the Government and the Council of Ministers.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the revision modifies decree no. 2022-1140/PRES/TRANS/PM/SGG-CM dated December 30, 2022. It formalizes the elevation of the Secretary General of the Government and the Council of Ministers to a ministerial rank. This change is part of a broader effort to enhance the operational framework of the government.

The newly adopted text also updates the organizational structure of ministerial departments. It introduces the establishment of technical advisor positions and a protocol service. The Council of Ministers has stated that this restructuring is aimed at boosting the efficiency of the General Secretariat and the Council of Ministers in fulfilling their functions.
