Security Forces Engage Bar Owners in Yendabili for Upcoming Holiday Festivities

Gourma: The security forces are raising awareness among bar owners about security measures for the end-of-year festivities. As part of the mission to secure the end-of-year holidays, scheduled from December 15, 2025, to January 15, 2026, the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) of Fada N'Gourma held a meeting on Thursday, December 18, 2025, with representatives from bars and restaurants in the city of Yendabili.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this meeting, chaired by the commander of the Fada N'Gourma gendarmerie company, Captain Moriyamba Ky, brought together the gendarmerie, the national police, and the municipal police. Its aim was to explain to bar and restaurant owners the FDS's expectations during this period marked by high crowds and increased security risks.

Captain Ky emphasized that bars and restaurants are places of significant influence that can become dangerous if appropriate measures are not taken, especially during the holiday season. 'As part of the mission to ensure security during the 2025 holiday season, we want to share our expectations of those operating establishments serving alcoholic beverages,' he stated.

Discussions focused, among other things, on adherence to hygiene measures, proper parking management, the prohibition of minors' access to establishments serving alcoholic beverages, the fight against drug use in public places, and the reduction of noise pollution. The commander of the Fada N'Gourma gendarmerie company also urged those operating these establishments to strictly follow the instructions of the security forces, to cooperate fully with them, and to promptly report any suspicious behavior.

The spokesperson for those operating establishments serving alcoholic beverages, Eli Compaore, welcomed the initiative of the security forces. He felt that this meeting had allowed them to better understand the appropriate behaviors to adopt during peak periods, the measures to take to secure their workplaces, and the procedures to follow in case of disturbances. Mr. Compaore also expressed the bar and restaurant owners' expectation of support from the security forces during this period. According to him, the regular presence of security forces around bars and restaurants acts as a deterrent to potential troublemakers.
