Ouagadougou: The Cissin artistic and cultural training center, Th©Stre Soleil, celebrated on Saturday the conclusion of the "Seed of Hope 2024-2025" project, an initiative that equipped 450 young people with skills in arts and culture to bolster the government's efforts in integrating these fields into the education system. This initiative, driven by the slogan "sowing the seed of hope," aims to nurture "youth theater" among young individuals committed to preserving their cultural heritage, as stated by the center's director, Thierry Oueda.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the director of Th©Stre Soleil addressed the audience during the closing ceremony held in Ouagadougou, expressing gratitude for the children's resolve with the message, "we must not let terrorists close another school." He also extended thanks to the authorities for their support.
Yacouba Barry, representing the Minister of Basic Education, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages, expressed approval for the initiative, noting its alignment with the ministry's educational objectives. He emphasized that education must encompass the intellectual, emotional, social, and artistic development of an individual.
Barry further remarked that the project sends a powerful message about the potential of art to transform societal mindsets and equip young people with strong foundational skills. He commended Th©Stre Soleil for its decade-long dedication to children's education and expressed hope for the project's expansion across the nation.
Founded in 2013, Th©Stre Soleil embarked on the "Graine d'espoir" initiative in 2015. The center serves as a hub for children's artistic development, providing free access to various art forms including drawing, visual arts, dance, theater, as well as traditional and modern music such as drums and guitar.
