Seno: The Director General of Customs of Burkina Faso, Dr. Yves Kafando, made a working visit to Dori on Saturday to observe the working conditions of agents in the Northern Customs Region and to strengthen performance dynamics for the 2026 fiscal year, according to information released by the Governorate's communication service.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative is part of the proximity strategy advocated by the Directorate General of Customs, aimed at bringing the top closer to the bottom and injecting new momentum into the decentralized services.
The governor of Liptako welcomed this visit, which he described as an eloquent testimony to the resilience of the State in a particular security context. He emphasized the strategic importance of the region in trade. "In this strategic crossroads of Liptako-Gourma, customs is not just a source of revenue, it is an essential bulwark," he stated. The governor also conveyed the full availability of the regional authorities to support the customs services for the success of their mission for the benefit of the people.
During the visit, Dr. Kafando held a working session with staff at the Northern Regional Customs Directorate. The discussions focused on the state of the infrastructure, the working conditions of the agents, the motivation of the troops, and a reminder of the performance objectives for the year 2026. The Director General of Customs stressed in particular the need to optimize controls in order to effectively combat fraud and illicit trafficking. He congratulated his colleagues for their courage and selflessness, while urging them to maintain heightened vigilance and exemplary integrity.
