Sissili Commemorates Labor Day 2026 with Sports and Social Cohesion in Boura

Sissili: The working community of the commune of Boura commemorated May Day 2026 with a focus on fraternity. Between sports tournaments, aerobics, and board games, the event served as a platform to strengthen ties between the various professions and the driving forces of the local community.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration of "Labor Day" in Boura was marked by a series of community-building activities that began on April 29th. The highlight of the festivities was the inter-service Maracana tournament, which pitted four teams representing the various sectors of activity in the municipality against each other on the grounds of the El Hadji Kama NADIE public primary school.

After an intense elimination phase, notably marked by the victory of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) against the Union of Services (1-0), the final, held on May 1st, pitted the Union of Services against secondary school teachers. The latter, having eliminated their primary school colleagues in the semi-final, won the trophy in a penalty shootout (1-0).

In addition to football, the workers gathered around an aerobics session and various board games including petanque, ludo, checkers, and cards, promoting a successful interprofessional mixing.

At the closing ceremony, the Secretary General of the town hall, Abdoul Kadrou Ouedraogo, representing the President of the Special Delegation, expressed the satisfaction of the municipal authority. He commended the initiative and reaffirmed the authorities' commitment to supporting any action aimed at promoting social cohesion and community spirit in Boura.

This desire for peace was supported by the blessings of the Chief of the canton, represented by Abdoul Salam Nadie, highlighting the support of the customary authorities for this surge of solidarity.

For the organizing committee, the event was a complete success. Evariste Kondombo, spokesperson for the committee, expressed his gratitude to the partners, particularly mentioning the Special Delegation and the sponsor Hama Cisse, who also reiterated his "willingness to continue supporting such initiatives" in the future.

The beneficiaries shared a sense of satisfaction. Participants like Andre Kabre and Aziz Tianama praised the quality of the organization and advocated for this momentum to be sustained in order to strengthen team spirit within the administration and private services of Boura.

The celebration ended in a festive atmosphere at the "5 stars" maquis, marking the end of a 2026 edition deemed historic by the tournament's initiator, Yaya SANOU, and all local stakeholders.
