Sissili: The “Revolutionary Youth on the March” Initiative Launched in Leo

Leo: The High Commissioner of Sissili Province, Tewende Isaac Sia, presided over the official launch of the 'Revolutionary Youth on the March' (JeRM) initiative on Thursday, April 2, 2026, in Leo. This event, featuring a popular cross-country race and messages of patriotic mobilization, aims to embed the ideals of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) among young people.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the city of Leo distinguished itself in civic engagement this Thursday, April 2, 2026. Under the leadership of the provincial directorate of Sports, Youth and Employment of Sissili, the driving forces, with a strong mobilization of schools at the forefront, crisscrossed the city's streets during a popular cross-country race followed by an aerobics session, before gathering for the official launch of the "Revolutionary Youth on the March" (JeRM) initiative.

Speaking on behalf of the government, the High Commissioner, Tewende Isaac Sia, read the message from the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Annick Lydie Djouma Pikbougoum/Zingue Ouattara. In this plea for a break with the past, the minister recalled that, since the proclamation of the Popular Progressive Revolution on April 1, 2025 by Captain Ibrahim Traore, the country has embarked on a profound transformation.

"Youth is an essential lever of this revolution. You are its lifeblood and vanguard," the official message emphasized, specifying that this march is a "rejection of imperialism, neocolonialism and all forms of foreign interference."

The JeRM initiative, which is being deployed in all 47 provinces of Burkina Faso, includes a packed agenda, namely a minute of silence for the martyrs, educational talks, conferences on patriotic values and days of tribute. The provincial director of youth emphasized the demographic importance of this target group. "Young people represent more than 77% of the population. If this segment embraces the ideals of the revolution, then the battle is largely won," he stated.

He announced that this initiative will now be held quarterly in all provinces, supplemented by monthly educational talks in partnership with the civic watch program. Participants at the launch event unanimously praised the relevance of the activity. Zakaria Napon, the local coordinator for civic watch in Leo, called on young people to understand that this revolution is theirs. "This isn't Captain Ibrahim Traore's revolution alone; he outlined the vision, but it's up to the youth to carry the project forward to ensure the country's future."

As for the principal of the provincial high school in Leo, Issa Nana, he praised the strong student mobilization and reiterated that the revolution is based on education. "They must understand that everything begins with the family, the foundation of socialization, in order to form conscious citizens."

For Warrant Officer Kakora Nignan of the Water and Forestry Service, sport is a vehicle for social cohesion and health, essential to the national effort. "It is crucial that everyone contributes so that the President of Burkina Faso's vision becomes a concrete reality."

The launch concluded in an atmosphere of patriotic fervor, with participants reiterating their commitment behind the motto "Homeland or death, we will prevail."
