Solenzo: 87 Tonnes of Fertilizer and 16,600 kg of Seeds Distributed Free to Returned IDPs


Solenzo: A total of 580 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from 24 resettled villages in Banwa province received free recovery kits on Monday, May 25, 2026, consisting of 87 tons of fertilizer and 16,600 kg of seeds, in front of the stores of the agricultural service. The High Commissioner of Banwa province, Sanfienale Joseph Sirima, launched the operation to distribute recovery kits to internally displaced persons who have returned to their villages, in order to begin the winter season.



According to Burkina Information Agency, each beneficiary will receive a kit consisting of two 50 kg bags of NPK fertilizer, one 50 kg bag of urea, and 15 kg of seeds. Of the 24 resettled villages, 19 will benefit from power tillers for plowing, as part of the government initiative “One resettled village, one power tiller”. The High Commissioner urged the beneficiaries to take good care of the power tillers provided to them. He also wished them a good rainy season with improved agricultural yields.



The provincial director of Agriculture, Animal Resources, and Fisheries, Madou Coulibaly, mentioned that a team from the National Land Development and Rural Equipment Company (SONATER) was supposed to deliver the kits to Balave, located 25 km from Solenzo, and to Sanaba, located 42 km from Solenzo. These towns and the villages within their municipalities were therefore still awaiting delivery.
