Sourou: 71 pairs of shoes worth over 1,400,000 FCFA handed over to the VDP of Tougan. The special delegation of the commune of Tougan handed over 71 pairs of ranger boots worth more than 1,400,000 FCFA to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) on Tuesday, during a ceremony presided over by the High Commissioner of the province, Desire Badolo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the special delegation of the commune, Ouigou Tiendrebeogo, stated that this donation, worth a total of 1,420,000 FCFA, comes from the remaining funds contributed by the population of the commune for the construction of combat posts, intended to strengthen the security of the city's population.
'This donation comes from the patriotic contribution initiated in 2024 by the High Commissioner of the province, Desire Badolo, to build combat posts all around the town of Tougan in order to secure the population. After the construction of the posts, we deemed it necessary to use the rest of the money to equip our VDP with tactical shoes,' said Mr. Tiendrebeogo.
The chairman of the special delegation praised the strong mobilization of the population during this initiative and invited them to continue supporting the fighting forces until final victory.
The spokesperson for the beneficiaries, Jean Drabo, expressed the gratitude of the VDP and stressed that this allocation will further galvanize them in the field. "These shoes will allow us to be more efficient. There are areas where we can now venture without fearing thorns," he confided.
He thanked the special delegation and all the people for their efforts to put the VDP in good working conditions.
As a reminder, the special municipal delegation of Tougan had already offered, last October, food worth approximately 5 million FCFA to the VDP.
