Burkina faso: A team from the special delegation of Tougan, led by its president, Ouigou Tiendreb©ogo, began on Monday, March 16, 2026, an awareness campaign in several neighborhoods of the city on the anarchic occupation of the sides of the roads and the dumping of household wastewater in the six meters.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the president was accompanied by agents from the hygiene and sanitation service, the municipal police, and the city's land agent. The President of the special delegation (PDS) indicated that this initiative aims to guarantee the health and public safety of the people of Tougan.
'We went out to assess the situation and raise awareness among the population. We must avoid the haphazard occupation of roads by dumping garbage or firewood, or even dumping wastewater. This makes the city unsanitary and can cause illness and accidents,' he said.
Mr. Tiendreb©ogo also appealed to every household to maintain a clean and healthy living environment. He specified that the awareness campaign will continue throughout the city's neighborhoods, with actions potentially including door-to-door visits.
Residents welcomed the initiative. This was the case for Siaka To©, a mechanic in Tougan, who expressed his satisfaction. 'We congratulate the PDS and his entire team for this awareness campaign. This will allow us to better understand certain practices and, together, we will make the city clean.'
He expressed his hope that the city council would support residents by setting up waste collection points in neighborhoods and taking into account the socio-economic realities of some households.
The special delegation plans to cover all districts of Tougan in order to encourage the population to adopt behaviors that contribute to the sustainable sanitation of the city.
