Oudalan: The special delegation presents the report on the execution of the 2025 municipal budget. The special delegation of the urban commune of Gorom-Gorom held, on Saturday, an accountability day dedicated to the presentation of the execution report of the 2025 municipal budget, in order to inform the population on the use of public resources.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting, chaired by the High Commissioner of the province of Oudalan, Valentin Mare, revolved around the theme: "Accountability in the context of progressive and popular revolution: factors of citizen engagement in local governance and community resilience." This session gathered technical services, civil society organizations, customary leaders, and large numbers of citizens eager to learn about the municipal executive's actions.
The president of the special delegation (PDS), Sibiri Neya, revealed that the overall 2025 budget of the municipality amounts to 5.2 billion FCFA, with a balance between revenue and expenditure. The revenue collected totaled 1.83 billion FCFA, while expenditures reached 2.09 billion FCFA. For the operating budget, the estimated expenditure of approximately 2 billion FCFA was achieved at 89.08%, amounting to 1.31 billion FCFA.
The mobilized resources enabled the financing of initiatives in water and sanitation, health, security, education, social action, humanitarian aid, and urban roads. These funds facilitated electrification of infrastructure, construction of fences, acquisition of equipment, purchase of pharmaceutical products, and rehabilitation of public buildings. Additionally, food supplies were provided to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) to support security efforts.
However, several planned projects were not executed due to the suspension of state transfers, the security situation, suspension of the mining fund, difficulties in contracting, and humanitarian pressure. For 2026, the municipal executive plans to pursue priority investments, complete ongoing projects, strengthen resource mobilization, and improve financial governance.
Participants praised the special delegation's transparency approach and encouraged it to continue this momentum to build trust and promote sustainable local development.
